Head to The HUB: Your New Digital Workplace for Connecting and Collaborating

Earlier this month, Houston Methodist launched The HUB, our new digital workplace, as a centralized place for you to access essential tools, resources and news. The HUB is available at thehub.houstonmethodist.org. It fully replaces our previous intranet and provides you with a seamless, user-friendly experience so you can stay connected wherever you are. Plus, there’s a custom mobile app that doesn’t require you to be on VPN.

“The HUB is truly a game changer for Houston Methodist,” said Michael Brown, senior vice president and chief human resource officer. “We’re excited to bring this modern, intuitive experience to our teams, making it easier than ever to stay connected, collaborate and find exactly what you need to succeed. This is more than a platform; it’s the front door to our Houston Methodist community, breaking down communication and information silos to foster a more efficient, united workplace.”

The HUB offers content designed with you in mind. Here’s an overview of some of its exciting features.

1. Customizable Employee Experience
The homepage is tailored to your location or entity. You can even customize the notifications you receive and subscribe to topics and pages that are of interest to you.

2. Mobile App
With the new mobile app, you can get easy, on-the-go access to The HUB. To get started, click the links or scan the QR codes below.

iOS:

Note: Android users will need to download the Company Portal app using these instructions.

3. Robust Search Capabilities
The HUB’s search function helps you find what you need, whether it’s a specific page or document. You can also search for other employees.

4. News and Calendar of Events
The HUB offers the latest HM news and events, and you can save these events to your Outlook calendar.

5. No VPN Needed
Access The HUB using your HM login credentials. No VPN is needed. Note: Some applications within The HUB may require connection to the HM network or access via VPN.

6. Add Your Favorites
You can favorite or subscribe to pages, including food menus, to get timely updates.

7. App Bar
The most used apps, such as MARS, LaborWorkx and myHR, will be at your fingertips for quick access.

8. Get IT Support
There are three ways to get IT Support directly from The Hub’s homepage:

1. Click Support Request.

2. Select IT Support from the blue side panel.

Note: If you’re having trouble seeing the app bar with the IT Support icon on the left side of any page on The HUB,  your browser window may be too small. In this case,  you may see the app bar as a blue circle with four squares on the bottom left of your page. 

In a smaller browser window or screen, you can also zoom out and the app bar will fully appear again.

3. Or, from the top menu bar, click Tools & Resources, then IT Support from the Quick Links tile.

Here are some helpful pointers on The HUB:

  • Finding MARS, LaborWorkx and other applications: If you’re having trouble finding apps you use all the time, you’ll see icons for each application on the left side of any page on The HUB. If your browser window is smaller, you may see the app bar as a blue circle with four squares on the bottom left of your page. In a smaller browser window or screen, you can also zoom out and the app bar will fully appear again.
  • Customize your view. Did you know you can hide some of the apps on the left side of the screen? For example, if you don’t use StrataJazz, click on the ellipsis (the three dots at the bottom of the app tray) and choose Add an App. Then click on the ellipsis on the StrataJazz tile and unpin it. It will disappear from your app bar. Click the Reset your App Bar at any time to bring any unpinned apps back.
