Epic gets a makeover. v2017 upgrade complete.
Just as your Facebook app or Microsoft Windows require periodic updates, so does Epic. To stay current with enhancements, we recently completed our first major upgrade to Epic v2017.
And just when you thought it was over, November brings our next major upgrade — v2018. Starting in 2019, Epic updates will take place quarterly.
Among the recent changes, Epic’s color scheme became much brighter — too bright and more difficult for us to read. Teams quickly responded. The result, a more subtle palette.
Better for patients.
The upgrade brought Houston Methodist MyChart enhancements for our patients. This included a revamped look and feel. And the ability for patients to update their records and even pre-pay for appointments before arriving at the clinic. Following a visit, patients receive cleaner After Visit Summaries. The modern look includes checklists with important next steps.
Another benefit for our patients — our providers can electronically prescribe controlled substances directly from Epic to the patients’ preferred pharmacies. This eliminates the potential for lost, damaged or forgotten prescription slips.
Providers with Epic mobile tools, like Haiku on their iPhones or Canto on their iPads, can be more responsive to patient needs. They can receive mobile notifications as soon as a patients’ lab/imaging results are available and review clinical images directly from their devices.
That’s great news for our patients.
