CIO Corner: A Workday Update

On Jan. 1, we’ll officially launch Workday across our system. Workday is a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution that’s replacing MARS. Workday manages financials, HR, supply chain and payroll activities and data. This is more than just a technological upgrade — it’s a step forward in how we manage our business with greater agility, transparency and efficiency.
Our journey to Workday has been a truly collaborative endeavor with project team members from HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Research and IT working in partnership with key stakeholders from across the system to build a version of Workday that works for Houston Methodist.
Together, we’ve:
- Logged more than 20,000 hours of testing, with close to 500 testers from across the system to ensure Workday is ready at launch.
- Recruited more than 600 Change Champions to support you through this transition.
- Successfully remediated 690 defects uncovered in testing.
- Tested 298 integrations with third-party applications.
Training and Resources
To support you in our transition to Workday, starting in October, we’re rolling out a comprehensive suite of training resources, including tip sheets, quick start guides, recorded demos, forums and a Workday testing playground.
Whether you’re a manager approving time, an employee updating personal information or a finance lead managing budgets, there will be tailored resources to help you navigate Workday with confidence.
Preparing for Cutover
As we approach the end of the year, you’ll hear more about our “cutover” activities — the critical steps we’ll take to transition from our legacy systems to Workday. This includes data migration, system freezes and final validations. Your local teams will provide detailed timelines and guidance to ensure a smooth transition.
A Heartfelt Thank You
To everyone who has contributed to this project — thank you. Your dedication, insight and resilience have made this transformation possible.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected future. As we count down to Jan. 1, I encourage you to stay engaged, ask questions and take advantage of the resources available. For the latest information on Workday, check out the Workday page on The HUB.
